Whats cooking? **Capsicum Rice**

Alright, so the bell peppers were almost getting rotten, so I thought of making this for dinner tonight. I'd a heavy team lunch so didnt go for the farewell dinner and had to cook something **sighs**. So heres the recipe (God thats a lot of "so"s hmm)

Step#1 -> Dry roast the following (in the order given) and then grind them (I've got Preethi mixie so it grinds to a really good consistency :))
dried red chillies(3),mustard seeds(1tsp), urad dal(1tbsp), cumin seeds(2tsp), peanuts(15), curry leaves
Once the above is ground add corainder powder(2tbsp) and garam masala(1tbsp)

Step#2 -> Now saute bell peppers in lil bit of olive oil and do not overcook it (I like it crunchy and its more healthy that way :P) then add this ground powder (from step1)
Add lil water so that it cooks soon and then add the cooked rice to it and gently mix them so that the rice doesnt break and dont forget to add salt :)

Muthal mazhai ennai nanaithathey

Muthal Mazhai a.k.a the first rain :) Everytime I see the rain drops its a very joyous moment for me. My thoughts go back to my childhood days when schools re-open after the long summer vacation in monsoon. There you've your new school bags, raincoats, new books ... awww I can still sense the smell(fragrance rather :P) of each of these. Then the usual lectures from the teachers to "not get wet in the rain" lol ... one wonders why they have to preach when they very well know we wont be following that. I've beautiful ... amazingly beautiful memories of rain... one of them is so eww-y .. catching earthworms in sticks... lol... I know its not beautiful to see a guzillion earthworms together... ewwwww... so back to getting wet in the rain, I just love it love it love it. We were on our way to the grocery store (as lazy we are to go for groceries on sunday) and it was getting cloudy and we wished it would rain. Once we were inside the store it started thundering like no tomorrow and I could hear my roomie's heartbeat in the crowded supermarket lol. Once we were out I took my sweet time to nicely get drenched in the rain and then slowly get into the car which I didnt want to but since I wasnt driving I wanted her to drive us back home safely. Wow it was just amazing and I had a hot chocolate once home sitting on the patio on my easy chair and thankful to God for everything in life! Rain washes away everything

Karthik and Stephen... my two big crushes!! Karthik an '80 born vocalist from Tamil Nadu whos rendered his amazing voice to many beautiful compositions and Stephen Devassy an '81 born pianist/musician from Kerala whose fingers have been specially blessed by God. And when they come together its a treat for my eyes, ears and soul.

Black or white

Everyone has a different perception of beauty. People who are dark feel white skin is beautiful, fair people go to tanning booths instead. Beauty is not color, though the society makes me believe white skin looks beautiful ... especially in India. :) Some years back (and maybe even today)if a white skinned foreigner enters a village, there would a million people surrounding him as if he were a celebrity. Blame it on our past where we were ruled by the British, guess its got into our blood to love white skin. You'll meet "the gen next", who claim to have overcome all this and believe everyone is beautiful. Then why do matrimonial ads say "wanted very very fair bride/groom" :P what on earth that means. Beauty needs to be admired in any form and color. Everyone is beautiful, you just need to present yourself well. Thats what matters in today's world. Beauty is just a perception, for me George Clooney or Johnny Depp might look like a greek God but not for someone else. What needs to be changed is people's way of looking at beauty of a person, it should be admired regardless of color. Oh no, my mind started rambling again...
