Puerto Rico

is a self-governing unincorporated territory of the United States - quotes Wikipedia; something I can totally rely on rather than my sad geographical knowledge. Puerto Rico was always confined to the geography books and I guess it was a chapter out-of-syallbus and that explains why I dont know much about Puerto Rico. Awesomeness! My justifications are sometimes big time bull crap. I was ignorant okay! Today my friend asked me how to pronounce Puerto Rico as her Irish manager could not quite decipher her Indian way of pronouncing this. Puerto Rico, ring a bell? Oh Yeah! Just to prove her I was a walking dictionary and knew how to pronounce stuff, I tried to check how to pronounce this. Wondered it should be pure-to-ree-ko! I yelled "Holy crap!" when I saw how to pronounce it. Pwerto-reeko. And now I understand why her manager didnt understand what she meant.
Me: "Hey machi, you need to say pwerto-reeko." *full of pride*
My friend: "Oh is it machi ... I'll go and flaunt it to him. By the way he told me ... now you know why I pronounce Shraaat as Shraaat"
*Shraaat = Sharath :P

No Strings Attached

For a long time, I wanted to get my hands on this instrument and it still remains a dream. Guitar is my favorite musical instrument and soothes my mind whenever I listen to it. Saxophone is another one but I would talk about my first love "guitar" here. Right from the church choir to Jimi Hendrix, folks use it to add beauty to any song and hymn. I'm not a big Indian Idol fan; but our very first blue-eyed Indian idol Abijeet Sawant has an amazing voice ... not that I liked all his songs. His album Junoon which was released last year showed that he had some depth in his voice. I was listening to "Ek Shaqs" from his album and its just so beautiful. The guitar cant get better than that. Got to know that this song was especially dedicated by Abishek to his girl friend who broke up - blame it on fame a la Justin Timberlake ishtyle. Whatever! I atleast got to listen to this wonderful composition ... especially the guitar... it blows my mind ... whoever did it ...has done an excellent job!! :) Again this is one of those songs that make me dance. All I can say is wow!!! :) To Do: Buy an acoustic guitar.

Probably appa's most favorite word! Ofcourse I'd been brought up in super disciplined confines and I am happy because it has helped me in many ways in my life. Right from waking up in the mornings to read the Sanskrit verses 10 years back to taking the 6.10am local and shuffling 3 trains to reach my work place 4 yrs back to waking up early in the morning to be at office before the clients come in today. After so many years this discipline of mine encountered a small glitch yesterday. I was supposed to be home on time and there I was late, after having a special lunch at one of my friend's house. That reminds me of those childhood days where we have to be home by 7pm to finish the home work and if we were even 2 minutes late, we would get a spanking from mommy. And yesterday was one such day! My mom nearly tore me into pieces with that stare ... ayooo... and she complained about me to my dad nearly a zillion times. :) Yes! Maybe I was wrong in my behaviour; but I never meant to be late and I personally dont like waiting for people or vice versa. But I finally commited a mistake and I still feel bad about it. Maybe tomorrow I should feel better ... but breaching discipline sometimes makes me happy. That reminds me of "Mouna Raagam" ... the Mani Ratnam movie and one of my favorite ... well ahead of its time. Revathi unlike the other siblings is total opposite and her father thinks shes not disciplined. Well... well there ends the story.

Bleeding Love...

Today I went out with my friend who would be taking her road test on Monday. I was sitting in the passenger seat and put on the FM. It was the same KISS FM and Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love song was playing and I reminisced the time I was preparing to take the road test. I drove the car with no one beside me, on those Dallas streets at 12.30 and 1am in the morning. And, this song used to be repeated after every hour. I stupidly love this song for those beats, and this is one of those songs that make me dance! :)

And everyone's looking around
Thinking I'm going crazy
But I don't care what they say
I'm in love with you
They try to pull me away
But they don't know the truth
My heart's crippled by the vein
That I keep on closing
You cut me open and I
Keep bleeding
Keep keep bleeding love...

Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani? Mark 15:34; Matthew 27:46

This was the sentence from the almost dead Jesus' mouth. Whenever there was 'the passion' being sung on a Good Friday mass, I would ask myself - why did the son of God cry out in despair to His Father? But over the years I'm slowly realizing what these words mean in my life. Whenever theres a moment of joy and happiness, we turn to Him singing praises but when we are in deep trouble, we tend to ask Him- why have you forsaken me? Why can't you hear my cry for help when I'm being surrounded by so many troubles in life? It just means I'm affirming my faith in Him (as Jesus did) and not crying out in despair (as I wrongly thought). That is what everyone does I believe.

Kftvt J mffe b njsbdmf! Zpv lopx cftu! A promise kept! :)
My God, my God why have you forsaken me?!!

Avalanche breakdown

I like Genelia... shes extremely cute :) ... thats it period, she can do anything but act! I was heart broken to see such a pathetic Aamir Khan production movie. 20 mins ...that was my threshold and I didnt have patience to waste the precious 2.8 hours of my weekend in this super crappy and childish stuff. I'd a feeling ... did I grow really old to not like such movies? I dont think so. I've never liked such movies even as a teenager!

But I was happy about one thing though, I got to hear a lovely song Kabhi Kabhi Aditi ... by Rashid Ali. Good lyrics, amazing guitar and mindblowing voice :) Yay! I'm in love with Rashid Ali's voice. :) Per me, AR Rahman's music was the only saving grace(other than the sweet looking pair) in those 20 minutes and could be well extended for the entire movie. I was indeed happy to see all my friends mimic my thoughts ... atleast I'm not the only weirdo hehe ;) I tag it as a lousy movie which was so predictable.
For the ignorants, the movie being talked about is Janey Tu Ya Janey Na :P

Raindrops keep falling on my head ...

Anyone ask me whats my most favorite season of the year and it has to be the monsoon. I write this while its drizzling beautifully outside. I love water and monsoon brings back those precious moments of my childhood. We friends used to get drenched in the rain on our way back home from school and the fun waited when my mom would answer that non-stop ringing door bell. She would have got an oscar for that horrendous look. :P

Mumbai is said to be a very dirty place, but even Mumbai looks lovely during monsoon. I've cherished every bit of it. But there are other places which have left a great impression in my mind ... Tungareshwar is one of them. The first time I went there was as an eighth grader and the place was no less than mindblowing. And I always crib God never answers my prayer, but He did answer it when we were taken there again for our Tenth grade hike. I couldnt have loved God more and this time I enjoyed more than ever. How could I not with all those great friends of mine! Even if I'm to die today, I would never regret that I missed something in life. I've lived every moment and in monsoon I've most of my great memories.

Hug O' War

Did it send a wrong signal? I just meant the Os not the Xs. ;)

The "pyaar ki jhappi" that munnabhai propogated is a wonderful sign of affection. I've hugged small kids and it feels good. I like to hug my mom everyday in the morning and it makes my day! I think hugging is encouraged in every country unlike kissing. Ofcourse, there have been controversies revolving some top women leaders hugging their male counterparts; we'll keep these out of discussion here. Whenever I go into a soft toys store, first thing I love to do is to hug the teddy bear. Wow! I bet, you cant feel better than that after that beary hug. Hug speaks the universal language of "I care for you and appreciate you in my life".
Someone told me the post doesnt look complete. Something was supposed to be "missing". So I've added a sweet picture? Does this feel better now? ;)
Be the change and give your friend an unexpected hug! OOOOOOOOOOOO :)
